Restore Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers
Our Vancouver dentists use porcelain veneers, which are thin slices of tooth-coloured porcelain, as an effective and non-invasive option for improving the appearance of your smile.
How Veneers Work
Veneers can cover over stains that cannot be removed through teeth whitening, and can help make teeth appear more even. Porcelain veneers are permanently bonded to the tooth, resulting in a natural and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Because a veneer is very thin, there is minimal risk to the natural teeth.
Veneers are also resistant to staining from coffee, tea, or even cigarette smoking.
The Procedure
This procedure requires little or no anesthesia, making it a relatively easy way to improve the appearance of your teeth.
First, a highly accurate 3D scan is made of the tooth surface. This scan is used to create a virtual model of the tooth which will be sure to create a custom porcelain veneer.
The veneer is then cemented onto the front of the tooth to give an improved but natural appearance to the tooth.
The Results
If you look closely, you may be able to see very slight variations in the colour of porcelain veneers compared to the rest of the teeth.
Nonetheless, such colour variations occur even in natural teeth, and will not be noticeable to the casual observer.
Some patients choose to undergo a course of teeth whitening prior to having veneers placed, so that the colour of the veneers is matched to a whiter, brighter shade.
